It is with great sadness that Atomic has said goodbye to Nordic Race Director, Peter Jurich. Life on the World Cup can be tough and after almost 20 years of service Peter decided he needed to spend more time with his family. Replacing the often times flamboyant and occasionally controversial Jurich is the equally colorful Roman Toferer. Atomic has enjoyed the services of Roman as the head service technician on the World Cup for the...

The Inspection Group visited Lahti, the organizer of the 1926, 1938, 1978, 1989 and 2001 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, on the 17th and 18th of September. The Lahti 2013 Candidature Committee presented its concept which is built on leveraging the Lahti Sports Center’s facilities and a compact stadium set-up in the heart of the city. In addition, the candidacy draws on the Finnish spirit, extensive know-how and long traditions in Nordic skiing. The Candidature...

Australia’s Pub to Pub race is a pretty unique event. Take a 5km cross-country ski race, add in five beer stations, and 400 other people in fancy dress. At one time it was Australia’s biggest cross-country skiing event, attracting over 1000 skiers. Now, after a bit of a lull in the late nineties when the beer drinking was briefly taken out, the numbers are building again. The following 2007 Pub to Pub race report was...

In the last competition held in Samsun (TUR) in mid-September, the Russian team completed its success with a victory in the Nations’ Cup (with 5803...

This past Sunday, 52 rollerski racers gathered at Kincaid Park in Anchorage, Alaska for the 5th and final race of the Anchorage Municipal Rollerski Grand Prix. It was a photo finish with identical times of 29:33, but in the end Bart was just a...

Fairbanks, Alaska – The first appreciable snow fell in Fairbanks on Tuesday, on top of Ester Dome. Winter can't be far away! Pete Leonard, program director for FXC sent in this picture of a couple of hardy Fairbanks athletes ski-walking on the road to the top of the Dome (and yes, notice the person on the left is just wearing socks!) Approximately three inches accumulated. Fairbanks will be hosting US 'Long-Distance' Nationals scheduled for late-March...

APU skiers just finished their third week-long camp on Eagle Glacier with sunny skies and excellent skiing conditions. Similar to the two previous camps the main focus was to ski a lot (volume) and to keep improving on-snow technique. Can this really be Eagle Glacier in August?! With one more on-snow camp under our belt we are confident our skiers have a good start to fall training. Since the month of May some of our...

CANMORE, Alta. – At this stage of her career as an Olympic gold medalist, Chandra Crawford isn't kidding herself. She knows she should probably just worry about her ski racing and recapturing her form of 2006, when she came from total obscurity to win a gold medal in the sprint event at the Turin Olympics. She has a lifetime to empower the young girls of Canada, but at age 23 and coming off a brutal...
