At this year's Vasa, I didn't reach the top of the hill for over an hour. I arrived at the start area in plenty of time and was no where near the back of Group 10. I tried to stay polite at the bottom of the hill with the result that after 20 minutes I was essentially in LAST, there was no one behind me! And many who passed just walked over my skis etc. All the while I thought: "There MUST be a better way" Apparently the answer is to be an elite skier or have sharper elbows!
