Rules are printed to provide parameters and guidance. Sometimes mistakes happen. Multiple people were collecting photos and distributing them to the voters without photographer names. All voting had occurred before we realized that we had broken our own rule. Mark is getting a prize for first, but certainly not for the other positions. Instead of taking the time to redistribute the photos and re-vote, we opted to let things stand on this one, and worry about more important things. The point of the contest is to recognize great photos and photographers, and share those photos with the rest of the ski community. The actual placing is really not that important.

The same people receive the prize either way as Mark is not eligible for multiple prizes.

"Anyone can participate. Regardless of whether you are a professional or an amateur. You can submit ONE photo per person, maximum!"

Mark Nadell took some great shots but I'm wondering about rules and why they are printed at all sometimes?
