MIDWAY, Utah — On the eve of the 2013 U.S. Cross Country Championships, actually New Year’s Day, some coaches and skiers still lingered on the course at Soldier Hollow — some testing skis, others casually cruising around the 1.4-kilometer loop. Wednesday morning, this venue will be packed with more than 400 racers and representatives from all over the nation.

But for a look at Soldier Hollow on Tuesday afternoon, check out the following slideshow.

Races start with a classic sprint at 10 a.m., followed by a freestyle individual start on Friday, classic mass start on Sunday and freestyle sprints on Tuesday. For more information, visit the event website.
