10th Mountain Division Junior Championships Set for Bond Brook and Fort Kent

CARIBOU, Maine — The Maine Winter Sports Center is pleased to announce that the 2013 10th Mountain Division Junior Nordic and Biathlon Championships will be hosted by Augusta Trails and the 10th Mountain Ski Club, respectively. The 10th Mountain Division Championships serve to recognize the highest level of junior racing held in Maine each year. By hosting the championships in conjunction with clubs from across the state, the Maine Winter Sports Center looks to honor the role that the 10th Mountain Division played in not only helping to win the second world war, but also helping to found the modern ski industry in the United States.

This year’s cross-country 10th Mountain Division prize will be awarded at the conclusion of the NENSA Bond Brook Eastern Cups, in Augusta, Maine, February 17-18. The junior man and woman with the lowest combined placing for the weekend will be awarded the 10th Mountain Division Nordic prize. This season’s biathlon 10th Mountain Division prize will be held in conjunction with the U.S. National Biathlon Championships at the 10th Mountain Ski Center in Fort Kent, Maine, March 8-10. The junior man and woman with the lowest combined placing for the three races will be awarded the title of 10th Mountain Division Biathlon Champion.
