Craftsbury Spring Tour a Go!

The Craftsbury Spring Tour is a go for the weekend of March 22-24 at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. While it rains steadily outside today here in the northern VT and through most of New England, we can still report a solid, if soggy, base. Our backup ‘Mount Craftsbury’ of manmade snow will also ensure solid conditions for these final events of the season. We have about 40 athletes currently registered including members of the Green Racing Project, MWSC, Stratton Mountain School, Middlebury and Dartmouth, to name a few. Come join us for the last NRL/FIS races of the season and celebrate spring in style for what is shaping up to be a great series of races.

Registration is available online at skireg.com up until Thursday. Check out our all-inclusive lodging/race offer for the weekend:  $200 includes meals, lodging, and entry fees. There is no DOR entry for tour events, but there will be DOR for the ‘Spring Fling.’

This 3rd edition of the Spring Tour features three races including a prologue, full sprint with heats, and a distance pursuit start event on Sunday to wrap things up. We also offer the Spring Fling event with 15 and 30k options in classic style that will go off in a mass start after the men’s pursuit on Sunday. In addition there will be a free biathlon clinic on Saturday after the sprint heats at the Craftsbury Biathlon Range. On Sunday we will also host a BKL race. Stick around for a BBQ and awards for some good local food and a chance to thank the volunteers who donate their time and make all these great events happen at Craftsbury.

Lastly we’d like to remind all participants that waxing for these races is restricted to LF only. We’re hoping to level the playing field a bit and keep this a low-key, low impact and low-cost race series.

There’s something for everyone at this year’s Spring Tour, so keep your fingers crossed for sunny days to close out a great winter in VT! We’ll see you in Craftsbury.
