Anyone know of a face shield that will go over prescription glasses? I got stuck last year trying to ski almost blind because of heavy snow falling and clogging up my glasses. I tried the Casco (because that’s what the store had), but not even close.

Not sure on face shields but rudy project has glasses inserts that fit into several of their sunglasses.December 4, 2010 at 4:27 pm #90626
I own Rudy glasses with the prescription insert. They’re good, but they don’t work in the conditions davidf2d is describing. If I replace them, I’d consider glasses with prescription ground into the lens rather than an insert.
Have you tried the shield without glasses?

1. it was definitely “need a face shield” conditions. I have the Rudys with the insert. They filled up with snow. Everyone else was going face shield or squinting.
2. I’m blind as a bat without glasses. Not an option.
3. I sort of remember reading that the Rudy shield will go over glasses. Anyone know about this?

According to this the Salice Nordic Shield fits over glassesDecember 5, 2010 at 9:04 pm #90629
Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely look into the Salice.

Did you check out Casco’s Spirit Competition? I don’t need to wear my glasses when skiing, but checking now I find the Spirit clears them. I guess, tho, it depends on the style and size of your frames. Mine look like this: http://www.eyewearplanet.com/luxottica-eyeglasses-frames-lu6504.htmlDecember 13, 2010 at 9:20 pm #90631
These snow shields work for me
I also sometimes use these when biking in heavy rain – they don’t fit comfortably with my helmet, but at least I can see.December 15, 2010 at 1:07 pm #90632
Thanks for all the replies. I tried to order the Salice from the link in the link. Out of stock. When I look at the latest info, it looks like they’ve changed the design since NordicSkiRacer reviewed it. My other complaint about Casco is the price. That’s a lot of $$ for once a year use. The Rudy’s look like the best bet.

Not sure if you found what you were looking for yet but I Gear West http://www.gearwest.com had a couple pair of the Salice that you were looking for. Also Casco just came out with some Carbonic lens for their nordic spirits. The cost is half of the color changing lens. Gear West has those too.
