Its so frustrating that the managers of the venue continually insist on relegating the races to the biathlon trails for the second day. The Mt. Van Hovenberg side is so much better than the biathlon trails, that there is no reason both races shouldn’t be on the ladies 5k loop.

The ladies 5k is a wonderful trail, good sustained climbs, fun discents and a all over great race course. The biathlon trails are flat, twisty and just bad skiing overall.

Holding the mass start skate races last year on the biathlon side was flat out reckless, the trails are very narrow, and have steep downhills, followed by abrupt walls so that even 15k into the race there were still huge bottlenecks and traffic jams.

A race series of the caliber of the supertour deserves to have the best trails available, and when its relegated to inferior trails when a great race course is 2k away, its wrong.
