XCFeedsHinterzarten and Oberstdorf!

So far we have been in Hinterzarten, Germany for the first leg of our trip. With some quality jumping sessions on the k95 there, it was easy to say we were having a good time! The first day there, a couple of us went on a ride around the town and surrounding towns near there! It wasn’t a very long ride, but for sure very pretty. The next day when everyone was feeling up too it, we stretched our legs a little more. With right out of the gate, we went up a very long and pretty step climb, that was then followed by a fast and pretty technical descent down the back side. The rest was short lived as we turned right to start our way back going up another very long and steep climb. Although we were going easy, it was hard not to push the pace when going up something at 15%. After that descent, we had a little bit of flat to the believed turn to head home. We saw the sign that showed “22km to Hinterzarten,” and we were all smiles. After about 10k of gradual uphill, the road sign said “6km at 17%” we couldn’t complain as that was our way home. Our team would go to the top and soon realized we either missed a turn or something, We got to the top and the road had ended. After talking to some hikers, and a cafe owner, we had two planed routes possible. One was to go back to where we came from, or  go up and over the mountain using what locals called a “Goat Path.” We eventually told them that it couldn’t be “impossible” and then set on our way to the goat path. The path wasn’t so bad at the beginning, but then the trail turned into a single track with no room for error. After about 45 minutes of HIKING with our bikes we finally made it too the road to return home. All in all, our adventure was great, but were ready to head to Oberstdorf.

Oberstdorf, was nice but also short lived. With only 1.5 days there, we had some quality jumping sessions and some very nice rides. Johnny Spillane, Todd Lodwick, Billy Demong, and myself, went on a fantastic ride. With the itch of the Tour de France looming, we hopped out of the vans with our bikes and road from Freidrickshaffen to Oberstdorf, Germany. Crossing the border of Austria and Germany several times, we had climbed several passes that were a gradient of 17% kilometers on end.

We are now in France with roads to ride, tune back in soon as myself and the nordic combined update on all the roads we have conquered.

Also I would like to thank, Honey stinger for hooking out team up with products for our long rides. Everyone should check out this company, as they are growing faster and faster with there all honey based products for range of activities.

Also, Cole sport, Colesport is a local bike shop in Park City, Utah. This summer, we have started racing for them, and they have hook our team up with bikes, gear, and good times. If you are ever in Park city, please go shop at Cole Sport.
