Momentum NW is ready to welcome a new Head Coach to lead and develop Seattle’s premier youth cross country ski program. Located in the heart of the Puget Sound, Momentum NW is a thriving community of families who love to race and take advantage of all our region has to offer. From the soaring alpine beauty of the Cascade Range, and our home trails at Snoqualmie Pass, to the bountiful networks of trails within the Seattle Metropolitan area, our region boasts an incredible diversity of training venues for every season. Seattle and the Puget Sound region is wonderful place to build a Nordic ski racing program!
Head Coach Position
The Head Coach role is the keystone in our coaching community to help grow, inspire, teach, and support our young athletes as they achieve their goals in the sport of Nordic ski racing. Our Head Coach is a core member of our leadership team and is the lead staff member responsible for building the Momentum NW program – performing both coaching and administrative functions to build a high-quality, sustainable program that engages and challenges youth in the Puget Sound region.
The Head Coach sets goals, develops coaching programs, and coordinates volunteer coach training across the program to ensure proper skills development. As the primary coach of the Comp team, the Head Coach develops and leads a year-round training program, including for skiers whose goals include racing at the national or collegiate level as well as skiers whose racing focus is local or regional.
The Head Coach also plays an important role in the leadership of Momentum NW programs aimed at younger skiers, including the Mavericks program for youth ages 6-13. This includes training and mentoring volunteer coaches so that they have the skills they need to help younger skiers learn great ski technique and engage in a positive way in racing.
