About the Leavenworth Winter Sports Club:
Since 1928 the LWSC or some early form of it has been facilitating winter recreation in the Leavenworth area. We are a nonprofit entity and maintain three facilities during the winter season that offer a multitude of winter sporting activities, including both Nordic and Alpine skiing.
About the town:
Leavenworth is a “Bavarian Village” in the heart of Washington state. Outdoor recreation defines Leavenworth – in addition to the winter sporting options, we’ve got world class hiking and biking trails at our fingertips, rivers and creeks that run through town and are prime for water sports, plus there are many swimmable lakes nearby. Leavenworth is a tourist destination and sought out both for the Bavarian experience as well as what the outdoors have to offer.
Position Overview:
The Ski Education Director hold the reins of both our Nordic and Alpine Youth Teams. This person hires, coordinates trainings and manages coaches. This position works closely with our partner organization (Plain Valley Ski Team), the LWSC staff and is expected to participate in monthly Board Meetings. Organizational and communication skills are key (both verbal and written). This position takes a leading role in organizing and executing one Nordic and one Combined race each season. Although this position does not have a specified coaching component, the selected candidate should have a working knowledge of both Alpine and Nordic skiing. If qualified, the candidate would be welcome to coach or to train coaches in-house.
This position is currently part-time. Hours fluctuate throughout the year, so flexibility is necessary. However, the option to grow the program and make the position year-round certainly exists. Because Leavenworth is a tourist destination there are plenty of part-time positions available throughout the year.
Compensation:
Hourly rate of $23 – $25 (dependent on experience)
