NSWACT XC Committee of Snow Australia Seeks (Australian) Winter Program Coach

The NSWACT XC Committee of Snow Australia is seeking expressions of interest from experienced XC coaches for coaching of NSWACT XC Program members (with a range of ages and skill levels) during 2025 winter in Perisher Valley, NSW. The position is a key part of the expert coaching team working with the highly skilled NSWACT XC/Australia XC Head Coach.

U16s Ready to Race – 2024

Enthusiasm and the ability to work with a diverse group of skiers is a key requirement. The primary focus is development of Junior skiers with some coaching of Senior and Masters skiers. Both on-snow and dryland coaching experience is necessary.

Most conditions of the coaching position are negotiable. Payment, a vehicle, accommodation and assistance with travel and visa will be provided if required.

ABOUT SNOW AUSTRALIA
Snow Australia is affiliated with the Federation Internationale de Ski (FIS), the Australian Olympic Committee, and the Australian Sports Commission.

Snow Australia is responsible for the athlete pathways including operation of events and programs in alpine skiing, cross country skiing, freestyle skiing, and snowboarding.

Mission: To provide opportunity for athletes involved in snowsports to achieve at their highest level.

Vision: To have clearly identified and supported athlete development pathways from entry level to elite performance, whereby athletes can achieve at their highest level.

ABOUT NSWACT XC
NSWACT XC is the regional XC discipline-specific committee of Snow Australia.

NSWACT XC is responsible for the athlete pathway of cross country skiing in NSW and ACT. This includes support for the development of regional entry-level programs, programs for athletes within state and national Athlete Development pathways, and for higher performing athletes.

OVERVIEW OF THE NSWACT XC WINTER PROGRAM COACH POSITION
The NSWACT XC Winter Program Coach will primarily be responsible for collaborating with the Head Coach (Alexei Sotskov) in developing and running the winter on-snow program, communication with participants and carers and some administrative tasks. The NSWACT XC Winter Program includes, but is not limited to, a 3-week School Holiday Program for up to 30 participants, development camps, a training/racing program for more committed athletes included in the NSWACT XC Team and Squad, school programs and support for development athletes and Masters. Additional casual coaches may be engaged when required.

The athletes involved in the Winter Program are of a diverse age range and skill level, from athletes who are competitive racers to athletes who are at the beginning of their development. Ages range from approx. 10 to adult “Masters”. The program will be primarily based at the Perisher XC Centre and may involve weekends away for competition at Falls Creek, Victoria.

In case of the late arrival of snow and periods of poor snow or extreme weather a dry-land training program will be implemented in Jindabyne.

Coaching duties will be will generally be expected to occur on 6 days a week, with one day off for personal time. Daily hours will vary but will generally include two training sessions. Days per week may vary according to demand with possible additional days off during quiet periods.
