Willie’s 5k Run for the Environment was held on a perfect clear crisp Saturday morning, Oct 17th. Organized in honor of Willie Neal, of Jackson Hole, WY,  who lived in Sun Valley in 2008-09,   training and racing as a Post Grad with SVSEF. After a two-year hiatus, the Cross-Country Alaska Junior Championships will be returning to the state-wide racing calendar March 26 and 27 and will be the first part of a weekend with family-wide ski racing appeal. The Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks’ season-culminating marathon, the Sonot Kkaazoot, is scheduled to start in downtown Fairbanks on the Chena River the morning of March 28. Each year, Bend Nordic Team skiers travel to Newport, OR for a fall training camp coached by Ben Husaby and Brenna Knowles.  The trip itinerary is simple. Surf, eat, intervals, eat, surf, rest, repeat! After a seven year break while the access roads to Mt. Greylock got a much needed overhaul, the Mt. Greylock Roller Ski and Roller Blade races are back.
