Veteran racer Gordon Jewett races in his first Olympics in Vancouver. Back injuries plagued Jewett for much of his early years of senior level racing, but perseverance paid off and Jewett found himself poised to qualify for his first Olympic Games after racing to his first national title in 2009 in the 50K freestyle race in March.

Jewett placed fourth and was the top Canadian at the 15K freestyle race in Sovereign Lake in December at the Olympic Trials and continued the make the case for his inclusion on the Canadian Olympic Team with a first place finish at the Bozeman, MT Super Tour in the 10K freestyle race. When the Canadian team was reallocated four additional spots, Jewett was named. Most recently, Jewett took 32nd place in the 15K freestyle race at the World Cup in Canmore in late January.
