The Marchablanca is coming!

A celebration of Fuegian sport and winter

Tierra del Fuego’s most important winter competitions, the 32nd Marchablanca and the 8th edition of the Ushuaia Loppet take place August 12, 2018.  Registration remains open for a short time longer, don’t miss out!

The 25 KM Marchablanca marks its 32nd edition in 2018, one of the oldest such events in the entire southern hemisphere.  The 50 KM Ushuaia Loppet gives skiers from all over the world the chance to complete a marathon distance event, two laps of the Marchablanca/PIPEF course, and to stamp their passport with a World Loppet Gold level stamp—all at “the end of the world.”

In 2018, The Marchablanca and The Ushuaia Loppet will take place both on the same day, August 12th.

Race CEO Pablo Valcheff notes that registration for the Marchablanca and Ushuaia Loppet remain open until the 8th of August at www.marchablanca.com.  Registration for the promotional 7,5 KM race is open until August 10th.

Packet pick-up is at the Paseo del Fuego shopping center Thursday and Friday preceding the event from 17:00 to 20:00 hours.

The CAU and Centro Invernal Tierra Mayor both have their cats grooming the course as well as Cerro Castor’s nordic cat and additional Cerro Castor equipment is available or joining as well.  By Saturday, participants should be able to take a full reconnaissance of the course.

Valcheff added “we’ve got registrations from fifteen countries, many of them strong ski nations, and every year we make incremental improvements which correspond to our growing pride and emotion in our Fuegian event.  We welcome everyone to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.”
