Junior beats all three 2003 World Championship sprint medallists

Last year’s Junior World Champion Johan Kjœlstad beat all Norwegian National Sprint Team members and Swedish World Sprint Champion from Val Di Fiemme, Tobias Fredriksson in a test race in Trysil, Norway.

The Norwegian Sprint Team is currently in the middle of an intensive training camp, and invited last year’s World Sprint Champion to a rolleski test race last weekend. With Fredriksson, Tor Arne Hetland and HÃ¥vard Bjerkeli on the start line, all three medal-winners from last year’s World Sprint Championship in Val Di Fiemme were present. It was therefore surprising that none of them won the race. The clear winner was 2003 Junior World Champion Johan Kjœlstad. Last year’s Junior World Championship win did not give Kjœlstad a regular spot on the Norwegian Team, but he did gain access to two of their training camps as an “intern”. Even though he is not a regular member of the Sprint Team, he surely showed a high standard.

Results:
1. Johan Kjœlstad

4. Tor Arne Hetland
5. Kristian Horntvedt
6. Thobias Fredriksson
