As many may know, <Alpina continues to be a leader in cross-country due to their innovations in racing, performance, touring and BC boot designs. What many don’t know is that the Slovenian based manufacturer is one of Europe's leading women’s fashion footwear manufacturers. Â
So put the two together and it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that when their U.S. Distributor urged Alpina to turn their extensive knowledge and skills toward woman's XC boots, they were quick to respond. Â
The fit of the boots is dramatically different than the typical men’s lasted, smaller sizes women are often sold. The flex patterns are totally altered, the heel pockets are much narrower, and the cuffs are redesigned for the slightly different calf/ankle configuration of a women.
In addition, Alpina’s research showed that women felt they needed a bit more warmth in their boots, so Alpina worked with more effective thermal layers, which do not add weight to the boot. These were complemented with firm padding and synthetic linings that provide great comfort without the bedroom slipper slop.
