Chad Giese is still the only man to win the City of Lakes Loppet, but he had to work for it. Giese, Subaru Factory Team, outgunned three other skiers in a sprint finish to take his second victory in the two years this race has been run. Giese outsprinted Matt Weier, Atomic, (second), and Tobias Schwoerer, Alpina Madshus (third), and Owen Hanley (Rossignol) in the final one kilometer of snow-covered roadway in the heart of Uptown Minneapolis.
