The most prestigious of all the World loppet marathons- the 90 kilometer classic style Swedish Vasaloppet is coming up on March 7th.

Last year’s winner of the Swedish Vasaloppet, Oscar Svard of Sweden is without doubt ready for this year’s event. This weekend he won the 42 kilometer long Skinnarloppet, Sweden’s second largest race and captured both sprint victories (at 3 and 24 kilometer) as well.

Last years women’s winner Ulrica Persson also took first. She raced in the women’s 10 kilometer classic World Cup race in Umea the day before

Another past winner, Daniel Tynell also of Sweden won this weekend's Swedish Bessemerloppet by 8 minutes. He looks ready as well!

Norway’s Anders Aukland has been specifically preparing for Vasaloppet this year and used the 15 kilometer World Cup classic race in Umea as “warm-up” race. He started well but slowed down toward the end and ended in 21st place.

No race report on his younger brother Jorgen Aukland (second in last years Vasaloppet) from this weekend.
