Anders Aukland won the 80th Vasaloppet and gave Norway the first victory since Ole Ellefsäter in 1971. His victory burst of speed seven kilometres from the finish forced the Estonian Raul Olle to let him go.

Ã…sarna's Sofia Lind won Vasaloppet's ladies class in 4.20.28, 1 minute 15 seconds before Christina Paluselli, Italy. In third place was Laura Peyrot, also from Italy, and fourth was Annick Vaxelaire, France.
“This was my best race ever. The competition was really tough, and I'm really pleased with my performance”, said Sofia Lind, who has now won Vasaloppet four times and been second three times.
Vasaloppet was run in perfect conditions – brilliant sunshine, minus degrees at the start, and a few plus degrees at the finish.
