As we have said many times; skiing and ski training is great mental therapy and also one of the best ways to stay healthy and fit. Use your racing involvement as the motivational tool to do workouts even when “it’s tough to get going”.
April is what we consider a recovery and transition month. We recover from the all the races we did by training a lot less, avoiding most hard training and by reducing travel to a minimum. Relatively short bike, running and weight room workouts mixed with off days is now the typical training plan.
The Easter egg hunt was my first workout today:
The Easter Egg Hunt
Welcome signs for the Easter Bunny was put up on Saturday evening and I was reminded many times (by Solveig) while watching the NBA play-off race basketball game between the Houston Rockets and the Utah Jazz that I should go to bed soon in case the bunny showed up early. I patiently explained that the Jazz is in a three-way tie for the final 8th play-off spot with Portland and Denver and that the bunny was probably at the game and cheering for the Jazz. She wasn’t quite sure about that but told me to at least be in bed before midnight.
I managed that after watching the Jazz pull off the victory and stay in the hunt with two games to go in the regular season – now tied with Denver with Portland one game behind. I was still dreaming about basketball (a number of badly missed shots and ugly turnovers) at 4.30 AM when Solveig woke us up and happily announced that the Bunny had showed up and it was time to start the hunt! I was ready too – after a couple cups of black coffee.
