Next Season Has Officially Started — What Was Done In April?

The month of April is usually the recovery month for most high level skiers. May is when the same skiers officially start their preparation toward the upcoming season.  Skidsport.com of Sweden announced on May 2 that “the season started yesterday”, while sprint World Cup winner Marit Bjorgen was quoted in Norwegian newspaper VG on May 1, saying: “we are now resuming full normal training. My goal is sprint gold and sprint relay gold in Oberstdorf Worlds”.

April was when those who kicked butt and reached their goals took a well deserved break to recharge the batteries to get ready for next seasons training. On the flip side, April was also a month where those who didn’t reach their goals were so excited about next season that they took a shorter break. They were eager to work on technical details, sought out information from new sources and mentally outlined next seasons training and goals.
