The first part of the base training is now over, and as the weather cools and the days shorten, the training intensity steps up.
– It becomes a bit more serious in the fall, the training will be tougher and tougher, says Anders.
But he feels well prepared.
– I have felt and trained well this whole summer, and I now look forward to the fall training.

Since you know that your base is strong, would you be a bit cautious through the fall to avoid any over-training?
– I feel that through the years I have gained enough experience to know how much training I can handle. However, with all the altitude training we do through the fall, I have also see several skiers “tip overâ€. It’s about staying “cool†and in control and train well and smart.
Currently Anders is in the middle of a hard block with several intensity sessions. Next he sets course towards high altitudes for almost 3 weeks, where the training tempo is much easier.
– It will be very important to not go too hard and fast at altitude, and I am very happy that we are bringing two sports physiologists and doctors with us on this upcoming camp. They have an enormous knowledge of altitude training.
First on the agenda is however a visit to one of his favorite and most memorable places — Mora, Sweden.
– Since my partner is Swedish, and Mora is halfway between our hometowns and respective families, we chose to christen our son Oliver in Mora’s local church. It is also special that he was born on the day I won the Mora Vasaloppet in March, says Anders Aukland.
