FIS U23 CHAMPIONSHIPS CANCELLED

FasterSkierOctober 7, 2004

The 2005 FIS U23 Championships, which were held at Soldier Hollow last
season, have been cancelled. Originally approved in May to take place
as a part of the Junior World Championships in Rovaniemi, FIN, the
competitions had to be moved when the organizers later decided that it
would not be logistically possible to add another field of athletes so
close to the competition.

When a replacement organizer for the stand-alone U23 event could not be
found for the 2005 seaon, FIS decided instead to add a U23 class to a
normal Europa Cup Jan. 20-23, and to wait for a season to re-start the
U23 only World Championship competitions, which will take place during
the World Junior Championships in 2006 in Kranj, SLO.

Therefore, USSA will not select a team for the 2005 FIS U23
Championship. Team selection information for the 2006 Championship will
be posted to the “Selection Criteria” section of www.ussa.org.
