A former Norwegian national team Head Coach and World-renowned sport physiologists will give a eye-opening training and physiology lecture and participate as a guest coach in some of the camp workouts. Modern endurance and strength training
Former Norwegian national team head coach and world-renowned sport physiologist Jan Helgerud will give a training talk at the Best Western/Landmark camp hotel at Kimball Junction at 6.30 PM Thursday December 9. We can assure that you will consider making certain training changes after his talk! 400 skiers and coaches recently showed up in Oslo, Norway to hear Helgerud speak about training.
The fee for non-camp participants is $20. The lecture is open to camp participants, local endurance athletes and Super Tour participants.
Helgerud is a professor in medicine and sport physiology at the school of medicine at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. Helgerud has done research on the limits of oxygen transport and the physiological adoptions of endurance training from heart patients to elite athletes. He has also studied strength and power development and the physiological adaptations of strength and power training. These two research areas make him especially interesting for cross country skiers.
Helgerud’s material is published in a number of international journals and he is highly regarded worldwide. He has practical experience as a coach and advisor for World Cup cross country skiers and European Champion League soccer teams, as well as in other power and endurance sports. Helgerud will present the latest in endurance and strength training, and the connection between them.
