After the classic race on Saturday at Soldier Hollow, Beckie Scott received special recognition from The Soldier Hollow Lodge & Legacy foundation's director Howard Peterson for being the first ever North American to win an Olympic cross country skiing gold medal. Beckie won the Gold in the 5 + 5 kilometer pursuit at Soldier Hollow in 2002. Since Beckie was not able to celebrate her amazing victory at the time of the race, the Legacy Foundation thought it was appropriate to give Beckie the recognition she deserved on her next visit to the venue.

John Aalberg, who was in charge of designing, building and running all Nordic events at the 2002 Olympics made the presentation.

Beckie won Saturday's race. Her first on the Olympic trails since the Olympics.
