– I have prepared very well and done everything I’m supposed to do. This has given me peace inside and good confidence, says Pedersen.

– World Championship gold is a high goal for me, but it’s absolutely realistic. I have two bronze medals from the last Worlds. A goal of gold is a natural progression. It’s possible on a good day where everything works out, says Hilde.

Pedersen’s goal is to fight for a spot on the podium in the Pursuit/Duathlon and in the 30-kilometer mass-start race. She is also aiming for a spot on both relay teams (team-sprint and 4 x 5 kilometer).

– Only gold matters in the relays. I want to contribute to that, says Pedersen.

Hilde was toying with the idea of retiring after last season, but decided to race one more winter. It’s over after this season.

– My plan is to race until the last weekend after Easter. It’s over after that, for sure. The next Olympics are out of question, claims the forty year-old.

– The next Olympics is at altitude and requires long altitude preparations and I’m not up for that, says Hilde.

She still feels that all the time she has spent at camps with the younger skiers on the team has been positive.

– I feel that I still live in a young environment and that I have a young mind. That’s very positive for me, says Pedersen.

It’s regardless still over after this season. It would for that reason taste extra good if she could win gold at Worlds this winter.

– A gold at Worlds would be the icing on the cake. I need to work incredibly hard and focus on what I’m doing. To stay healthy is the biggest challenge. I need to at least believe that I can make it, says Pedersen.
