Kristin Stœrmer Steira took last weekend the step all the way up to a place among the Worlds elite skiers. She reached the podium and was second in a 15-kilometer skate World Cup race. That confirmed progress and future potential and made her very happy.

The season had up until Ramsau not been as good as she had hoped.
– I was up to a slow start, so it was very good for me to get confirmed that I can compete among the best. I have been a little sick this fall, but you always want to ski fast. It’s comforting for me to be able to show Coach Svein Tore Samdal that I can fight with the best, says Kristin, who of course has Worlds in February as the season’s big goal.
– I would like to race as many races as possible at Worlds. I’m also hoping for a spot on the relay team. I should have a chance to race the third leg. I don’t think Samdal will bet on me in a close finish sprint, laughs Steira.
The second place also meant something financially and there is no doubt that the 30,000 Norwegian kroner (roughly US $4500) prize money will be put to good use.
– I was almost done with the Christmas presents, so this will was like a Christmas bonus for me. As a ski racer I make my income from results, says Kristin Stœrmer Steira
