Dahl is not giving up on Worlds:
The season has so far not been as last year’s Norwegian sprint champion, John Kristian Dahl had hoped. He still has a small hope of making the Worlds team.
– Worlds have been the carrot this season and it would be fun to make that team. But half the train with that destination has left after my 16. place in Asiago, where I didn’t race well at all. It’s a new chance for me after new-year, and I’m focusing on showing a better side (of me) then, says John Kristian Dahl.
Dahl was after winning the Norwegian sprint championship last season mentioned as a gold medal candidate at Worlds, and that was big expectations for the 23-year old.
– Media focused a great deal on that, but I don’t let what they write bother me much. I’m also not putting a lot of pressure on myself, I’m ski racing to have fun, says Dahl.
He has no explanations on why he has not performed up toward his best so far this season.
– I have no idea. It’s hard to say. I have been healthy and feel that I have trained well. I have trained a bit more than last year and a little different strength. I hope to ski better after Christmas. I normally ski faster as the season progresses, says the sprint talent.
He is at the moment home in Kirkenes, North Norway. He will use the Christmas break to train quite a bit.
– I’m going to train well, but also eat good food and relax. I might even take a day off, says John Kristian Dahl
