Johann Muhlegg was second in the 55-kilometer Koenig Ludwig Lauf skate race on Saturday. The skate race is held the day before the more popular FIS classic marathon race with the same name, which attracts a lot more racers including the World’s top marathon skiers. The unknown German skier, Christian Seegler won the race by almost four minutes to Muhlegg.

There were 623 racers that completed the skate marathon.

Muhlegg was caught for doping during the 2002 Olympics and has recently started to compete again. He won a race in Germany last week.
