“Nordic racing needs this kind of excitement to grow, and Streetfighter definitely brings excitement to this sport!†exclaims Peter Juric, the International Nordic Race Director for Atomic. “Here in Europe, we have been watching the growth of Streetfighter and he has some coaches and athletes over here very frightened.â€
Peter is referring to the former University of Utah standout and current Team Atomic member, Zack Simons. He acquired the name “Streetfighter†with his win on the streets in Madison followed with his silver in the City of Lakes sprint in Minneapolis. Zack is the current points leader on the Super Tour Sprint circuit and he has become America’s most formidable threat for sprint competition. Streetfighter will be leaving for Europe shortly to compete against the world’s top sprint specialists.

“I have talked with executives at Eurosport, our version of ESPN,†points out Juric. “They are very excited about Streefighter coming to Europe. The top sprinter everyone fears over here is the German, Tobias Angerer. Eurosport is going to bill this as the best US/German rivalry since Joe Lewis fought Max Schmeling. It will have more viewers than any other ski race, alpine or Nordic, all year. Both boys ski for Atomic, so they will wax their skis in the same trailer before the race. This will be interesting!â€
