Shortened Course and “Unsettled” Conditions Highlight 2005 Race
It was touch and go because of the weather, but the 2005 Gold Rush races went off as planned, except for substituting 6 shortened 7+km. lap for the 16.5 km. normal course.
In the end, it was Lars Flora and Ivan Babikov of the Subaru Factory Team taking 1-2 for the men, with Andrew Johnson finishing a close third in the USSA 50 kilometer Championship Event.
In the women's Gold Rush, Factory Team's Abigail Larson skied away from Alpina/Madshus's Sarah Konrad and Larson's teammate Kristina Strandberg to take the 1 ounce of gold top prize.
