The Norwegian national team’s wax technicians had a very good season, as their athletes had. But the Olympics are coming up next year and this is not the time to let up and relax.
The wax team got together for a couple days of season wrap-up and evaluation early this week.
– We are satisfied with most everything, but it’s clear that there are things that we can focus in on and improve, says chief of wax Terje Langli.
He doesn’t have any specific areas that they need to improve in at this point.
– We need to improve in everything. The World moves on and our competitors are becoming better. We need for that reason to step up another notch. We have to be focused and think ahead. We just completed a very good season, but can’t lay down and rest for that reason. We have to continue to stay sharp and dedicated, says Langli
There were lots of problems and dis-satisfaction surrounding the wax team last year at the end of the season. It’s not like that this season.
– The reason for that is that we have done a good job. We have communicated well and every person on the team has been well informed and involved. We have been able to fix problems as we went along. We are a “well oiled machineâ€, says the chief of wax.
Every person on the team has a contract that that runs through next season.
— There will be no changes in our main World Cup staff this season, but we will start to include three-four new waxers in to the team during some World Cup races and the Scandinavian cup. This is done in order to prepare for the future after the Olympics, since some staff members at that point might want to move on and do other things, says Terje Langli.
