Norwegian skiers dominated the World Cup sprint scene this winter. Here is a chance to see how they did against each other in the Norwegian sprint-relay championship.

Ine Wigernes and Ella Gjomle won the women’s sprint relay at the Norwegian championship in Lillehammer on Friday.

– I felt that we were in full control during the entire race, said Gjomle after dominating in both the semi-finale and the finale.

Gjomle explained the easy victory:

I’t’s late in the season and many skiers have passed their peak. We are two good skiers on the same team, while many teams consist of one good and one skier that is not quite as good.

Warm conditions and wet snow contributed to big time gaps between the teams.

Hofstad also skied on the winning sprint relay team at Worlds, but the competition for first was tighter during Friday’s nationals.

– Yes, it was almost simpler to win Worlds, but I had a little of the same feel now as then, and skied three hard efforts/intervals, says Hofstad.

Yeah, some good skiers didn’t race at Worlds, interrupts a happy silver medal winner Thomas Alsgaard and laughs.
