Oslo, Norway was the host for the very memorable 1982 Worlds that included huge crowds and among others the super dramatic men’s relay where Norway and Russian tied for gold and Finland and East Germany tied for bronze.

Oslo is now trying to become the host of the 2011 Worlds (one year after the Vancouver, Canada 2010 Olympics). The other challengers are Val di Fiemme and Zakopane.

Val di Fiemme hosted the 1991 and 2003 Worlds and Zakopane hosted the 1939 and 1962 Worlds. Oslo also organized the 1966 Worlds.
