Norway was the best nation at Worlds, however Sigmund Hov Moen points to the fact that Worlds was the exception for Norwegian distance skiers last season. They peaked at the right moment, but Worlds was way above how they performed in the regular World Cup. A new Daehlie has not yet emerged.

Not only this, at lot points too that the international level for both men and women might be a bit down at the moment. A sign of this might be that a 36-year-old Skjeldal is keeping up with the Worlds best male skiers and a 40-year-old Gjermundshaug Pedersen is # 6 in the women’s World Cup?
We have looked all over, but it dosn’t look like we have a new Daehlie or Alsgaard in the coming. Our hat off to Espen Harald Bjerke after his recent good 02 test and for wining a rollerski test. But cross country skiing is not raced on a treadmill or on pavement.
We can imagine how the leaders are thinking. And we feel for them: they have to warm themselves on something. And you can warm your hands by holding them over â€a dying fireâ€.
