She was a participant for five straight years.
– The social aspect was important. To train with skiers from other parts of the country. It was always a little challenging to train with the boys and try to hang on. You are a little wound up and full of energy. In the evening too, it often got (very) late
Skari finds it exciting to be a coach instead of participant and be able to teach her knowledge.
– You think differently, and you can see that the participants like to have us as coaches. The more we give the more motivation it gives us.
What do you get out of teaching?
-You are teaching something you have been taught. You have to think differently. It’s exciting. We are also taking about everything else, but skiing. I enjoy that.

 are giving the participants a good mix of rollerskiing, running with and without poles, intervals, distance, strength, speed and technique training.</p><p>Bente was one of the coaches at last year’s Scandinavian summer ski school camp and that represented the 19th time in a row she had been at this camp either as participant or coach.</p><p>She went to the very first camp in 1986, before most of today’s participants were born!<br />
A lot was different back then, but she can still remember how it was to be a participant.</p><p>– I can still remember doing running interval training with Bjorn Daehlie and rollerskiing with Tor Hakon Holte. We were a pretty fit group and were looking forward to the workouts, says Bente Skari.</p></div><div class=)
