Downprioritizing The Long Distance Cup

Mini-series with focus on the Norwegian longdistance team: It’s the “classy classics” races that count for the Norwegian longdistance team.

– It’s hard to be in the top of the Cup. We are focusing on the classic races and want to fight to be in the top there, says Jorgen Aukland.

– The season’s highlight, Vasaloppet, is not a part of the FIS Marathon Cup this year. It’s however a part of the regular World Cup. The team has for that reason earmarked five races as important. That is besides Vasaloppet, The Norwegian Birkie, Marcialonga, Konig Ludvig Lauf and Jizerska padesatka.

The schedule means that the team will travel less abroad and participate more in Norwegian races than in the past.

– The schedule is fine, we get a chance to race the Norwegian Championship for the first time in a long time, and we’ll also be able to race several Norway-Cup and Scandinavian Cup races, says Jorgen.

The team will train in Norway before Christmas in order to prepare for Jizerska padesatka, that takes place in the middle of January.
