He has never race a good 50-kilometer race, but Norwegian Tore Ruud Hofstad has geared his training toward the Olympic 50-kilometer skate race.
I Can Become Very Good In 50-K Races

He has in the past showed that he can improve tremendously by making changes in his training. When Thomas Alsgaard retired and he started to become a candidate for the anchor leg in relays, he started training more sprints/speed. He wasn’t a fast skier, but developed in to the best relay and mass-start finishers after having trained speed after every skate workout.
He is now hoping that increased focus on the longer distances will pay off.
– I believe that I can become very good in 50-kilometer races, maybe not this season, but in the long run.
His 50-kilometer history might not speak to his advantage, but he is not stressed by the fact that the 50-kilometer is the only pure skate race beside the sprint in the upcoming Olympics.
– I’m not thinking about the 50-k every day, and it’s not the season’s main goal since I haven’t raced any good 50-k’s up until now. The relay is for now my main goal, concludes Tore Ruud Hofstad.
