Pre-Olympic Interview: George Grey Is Ready To Improve
FasterSkier · January 31, 2006
T.K: Your 16th place in Canmore looked to be a breakthrough race. You were only 59 seconds behind the winner.
In which individual Olympic event to you feel that you can improve that result?
G.G: Now that I have made that mark I will set out to better it anytime I start an event. Typically the 15km classic is a good one for me but I won’t rule out the others. For me good results are produced when everything comes together regardless of the distance or technique.
T.K: The upcoming 15-k World Cup race in Davos, only one week from the first race at the Olympics seems to be an important place to have a good result. How are you approaching this race and what type of result would be a confidence builder?
G.G: Of course I would like to see a top 15 in Davos but when we are on a solid peaking program a lot can change from one week to the next. So if I have a bad race all I can do is shake it off and train for the races ahead.
T.K: Which races do you plan to race at the Olympics?
G.G: Right now I will most likely start the 30km Pursuit, 15km classic, 50km skate, and possibly the sprint relay and 4x10km relay if I am selected. It might have been easier to ask which race I might sit out! It is a lot so I will take the Olympics one race at a time.
