RESIGNATIONS: Both cite a desire to “seek other opportunities.”

After nearly a decade of running the Alaska Pacific University Nordic Ski Center, three-time Olympic skier Jim Galanes has stepped down as head coach, according to APU dean of students Kelly Smith.
His top assistant, Jon Quinn-Hurst, has also resigned. Galanes hired Quinn-Hurst six years ago, and both submitted letters of resignation to APU officials in late June.
“Jim and Jon both resigned from the program to seek other opportunities,” Smith said by phone. “We're hoping their next opportunities are fruitful, and we wish them the best.”
