 is one of several very talented young Swedish skiers. Now he wants to start challenging, and beating, Norwegian Petter Northug.</p><p>The Swedish skier is one year older than the very successful Norwegian who won four gold at junior Worlds and a World Cup race last season!</p><p>– I’m going to crush him, at least a few times next winter, says Hellner when asked if he can beat Northug next season.</p><p>Hellner captured a bronze in the sprint at U-23 Worlds last winter and raced in four World Cup races for Sweden.</p></div><div class=)
Hellner, like Northug, is good in both sprint and longer distances. He is now a part of the Swedish A-team and views it as very valuable to work out with the more experienced and seasoned skiers.
– I’m trying to learn whatever I can from Mathias Fredriksson, Bjorn Lind and the other skiers, says Hellner.
National team coach Inge Braaten believes that the 20-year old has a bright future.
– Magnus is a big talent and we have chosen him for the A-team in order to match him with our best skiers, says Braaten
However, Braaten still wants to protect Hellner.
– We luckily have better skiers in both sprint and longer distances. They need to perform now and Magnus can take over at a later stage, says Braaten.
