Norway captured its 16th World Championship gold in the relay on Friday in Sapporo. Norway got exactly the type of race they had hoped for. They dropped Germany on the second leg, and after that the race was between Norway, Sweden and Russia. Everyone (In Norway, at least) knew that Petter Northug would crush the competition in the finish-sprint if he were to have one of his better days.
I will race the anchor leg for Norway until I’m 40- years old!

“Oi oi, it was that much!”
And Northug felt that this was the revenge he need after not succeeding in the team sprint or in the 15km skate race.
“It has been lots of in and out, so this was very good. I proved that I’m pretty dangerous in a finish sprint,” said Northug on Norwegian television.
He laughed when asked if he was ready to retire now and said:
“Relax, I will ski the anchor leg for Norway until I’m 40- years old!”
