Picked the wrong skis
– The skiing was great when we tested skis before the race. I got a bad feeling when it stated snowing. I was further back at the first split station than I have ever been in a race, said Northug
He is starting to feel that this isn’t his championship. Two crashes have (most likely) prevented him from medals in the two previous races. (His team-mate Tor Arne Hetland fell on his last leg in the 2-person sprint relay finale and Northug fell with 300 meter to go when he attempted to pass the leaders in the pursuit
– As Frode (Estil) told me: I must live on the wrong side of the hallway, said Northug with a smile.
Neither Estil nor the Norwegian coach Roger Aa Djupvik agrees with Northug’s idea of getting rid of the individual start format.
