Looking forward to be working with Renner again
Dave Wood is the current Canadian head coach, and worked under Mundal as junior coach when the Norwegian was in Canada from 1992 to 1998.
– We know each other well, and I’m looking forward to work with him again. We have a good dialog and a nice working relationship.
He is also looking forward to working with Sara Renner again. She is making a comeback after giving birth.
– She was 17-years old when I was there last time and was selected for the National team.
Mundal is traveling over to Canada on May 15 to sign a 3-year contract. The home-court Olympics in Vancouver is a main goal for the whole organization.
What can you contribute with?
– I will contribute with my philosophy and knowledge. Altitude training has big tradition in Canada, and we will continue with that. Technique training is also my strength, says Mundal.
The Canadian team is young, and with lots of potential, he adds.
– I know what’s needed, but I have no plans of revolutionizing Canadian cross country skiing. We will continue in the same track. They have a good system for testing, which I’m looking forward to working with, says Steinar Mundal.
