Anderson Elementary School in Bozeman, MT has 200 kids that are more fired up this week about cross country skiing than they were a week ago. US Ski Team members Leif Zimmermann, Lindsay Williams, and Liz Stephen did a school visit with 200 elementary school kids this Wednesday. The kids were treated to a video, some Q and A, equipment overview, and autographs. The video is one that Andy Newell made about the history and the present of cross country skiing. The video is comprised of three instrumental Metallica tracks, some sweet ski footage, and a lot of info about what it is like to be a member of the US Ski Team. It is inspirational and it paints skiing in a cool/hip light while not disrespecting the roots of the sport. The question and answer segment could have gone on FOREVER. Then autographs all around and all over the arms of the ski teamers as well as the kids…
These kids are the future of our sport. It was a very powerful experience to see how excited they were.
Bridger Ski Foundation, BSF, is pumping out good skiers. They do a great job making skiing exciting and fun. We hope that we may have turned some kids on to our amazing sport.
