On a beautiful sunny day Sunday, Anchorage local skiers James Southam and Holly Brooks won the 21st annual 50km skate race that winds through town and ends at Kincaid Park. This was a first win for both Southam (29) and Brooks (25). Southam has been in Anchorage the last few weeks training for the upcoming US distance nationals, and Brooks is an assistant coach for APUNSC.
Southam, a 2006 Olympian, beat out Thomas Oyberg (2nd) and Martin Rosvall (3rd).
Brooks, in her first Tour race, outpaced Kassi Rice (2nd) and Kate [Pearson] Arduser (3rd).
The Tour of Anchorage is part of the American Ski Marathon Series throughout the US every winter.
