The 43rd Annual Turkey Day Relays, sponsored by Beaver Sports, saw a
record field of 105 teams (315 skiers) register, and all but one
registered team participated. In the past seven days, a total of nearly
800 competitors have entered the three NSCF events held so far this
season.
The day started off with comfortable temperatures in the mid teens. A
total of 12 teams participated in the 3x1Km event for skiers in grades
K-4, starting at 11:00:00AM. Sixteen teams competed in the 3x2Km event
that started at 11:45AM, and 76 teams started the 3x5Km at 12:45PM.
This was the first time ever that more than 100 teams have entered this
event.
In the men's 3x5Km Logan Hanneman (Three H's) gave his teammate Werner
Hoefler a 33 second lead over Karl Schauer (Testosterone Avengers) and
51 seconds over Dave Arvey (Old Schoolers). Hoefler held the lead on
the second lap, but lost 29 of the 33 seconds to Mike Kramer (Old
Schoolers) who had overtaken Nick Ferree (Testosterone Avengers).
On the anchor leg Pete Leonard (Old Schoolers) flew past Nick
Hajdukovich (Three H's) and ended up with an 85 second margin over the
2nd-place Testosterone Avengers, whose anchor skier Ian Wilkinson also
overtook Hajdukovich.
Hanneman's 12:42 was the fastest leg of the day. Leonard (12:50) was the
only other skiers under 13 minutes. Ian Wilkinson recorded a 13:05.

skied the first two legs, with their friend Laura Rombach (16:37) skiing
anchor for a team time of 49:30.
The unofficial team of “Racing Mommas:” Melissa Lewis-Melissa
Lewis-Cathy Donaldson (skiers may only ski one leg of a relay) was the
second all female team in 50:01, 31 seconds behind the winners.
