NCCSEF 2009 Calendar
MSRP: $20.00
The National Cross Country Ski Education Foundation announces their 2009 fundraiser calendar. It is filled with high-quality images of the US Ski Team from recent World Cup action and features photos and bios of the next generation of US ski racers – before they become household names.
The NCCSEF has granted over $175,000 to junior racers in the last 12 years. They’ve funded every World Junior Championship team since 1997 and every J1 Scando Cup team since it was initiated in 1999. The annual calendar is a major component of the NCCSEF Future Fund and you can be a part of this great tradition with your purchase!
$15 of each sale goes directly to NCCSEF – BNS is only recuperating costs of fulfilling this item…
Editor’s Note: We just found out that the NCCSEF calendar may in fact be canceled this year. A real shame. We will make an announcement when we know for sure.

Two Planks and a Passion: The Dramatic History of Skiing
MSRP: $29.00
Predating the wheel, the ski has played an important role in our history. This is brilliantly brought to life in this engaging book. Roland Huntford’s brilliant history begins 20,000 years ago in the last ice age on the icy tundra of an unformed earth. Man is a traveling animal, and on these icy slopes skiing began as a means of survival. That it has developed into the leisure and sporting pursuit of choice by so much of the globe bears testament to its elemental appeal. In polar exploration, it has changed the course of history. Elsewhere, in war and peace, it has done so too. The origins of skiing are bound up with the emergence of modern man and the world we live in today.
