Haywood NorAm Update from Sovereign Lake Nordic

FasterSkierDecember 3, 2008

While mother nature has played havoc with early season ski conditions in different parts of Canada, Sovereign Lake Nordic, host to the FIS World Cup in 2005, is preparing to host a large field of race starved athletes this coming weekend. Snow conditions currently at the site are fair to good, with icy conditions from the weekend improving as a result of new snow over the last 24 hours. Currently a good skate track is available. More snow is expected later this week.

With the cancellation of the US SuperTour races at Soldier Hollow, many top American athletes are on their way to Canada for these races, which will count as US National Ranking list events.

Based on communication from the Race Committee the Jury has agreed to review conditions again on Thursday or Friday with the hope of determining whether a technique change is required for the interval start classic races on Sunday. Racers are advised to review updated conditions on the Sovereign Lake Nordic web site at http://www.sovereignlake.com/weather.html
